Fighting for Veterans

26th District Veterans Advisory Board

To better explore ways to improve veterans services and advance key legislative initiatives, Congressman Lee has established an advisory board comprised of more than 40 veterans and veteran family members from all seven counties of the 26th district.

Congressman Lee holds meeting with his Veterans advisory board discuss ways to improve VA services
After announcing the panel's formation, Congressman Lee said, "I am honored that these distinguished veterans and veteran family members have agreed to volunteer their time to provide first-hand insights on how we can better meet the needs of Western New York’s veterans. We have more than 50,000 veterans living here in the 26th district, and I am personally committed to ensuring that each of them – and their families – have access to the services they deserve and the benefits they have earned.”

The advisory board held its first meeting on May 28, 2009 at the Batavia VA Medical Center.

Support for Military Families

In light of recent tragic events at Camp Liberty, I wanted to be sure WNY veterans knew about the services offered at http://www.wnymilitaryfamily.com/. In Western New York there are about 20,000 active service personnel, reservists or retired military. The number of individuals touched by their dedication is many times more.  This site hopes to serve those touched by separation, with quick ways to help you get in touch with local individuals who can offer a listening ear or perhaps share their own experiences and (if needed) point you to other local resources.

Disabled American Veterans

The 1.2 million-member Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is a non-profit charity dedicated to building better lives for America’s disabled veterans and their families. With our brave Americans leaving the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, the DAV’s services and advocacy are as relevant and critical today as in any time in our nation’s history.
