New Travel Rules Now in Effect
**FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Click HERE to see answers to frequently asked questions regarding the new travel rules.**
The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) requires U.S. citizens to present a passport or other valid travel document at all land ports of entry, including Western New York's four Northern Border crossings.
We have taken a number of steps to ensure local residents are aware of the new travel rules:
• In February, we established a special website (http://chrislee.house.gov/whti) that contains information on how constituents can acquire WHTI-compliant documents.
• WHTI has been a featured topic in several of our town hall meetings by telephone and weekly e-newsletters dating back to early March.
• The 26th District’s Agriculture and Small Business advisory boards have also met on the importance of raising public awareness of the WHTI rules.
